Meet Jason
Many of my earliest memories as a child were made outdoors. As an only child growing up in Wisconsin, it was very easy for me to find things to occupy my time. In my backyard I was a master tree climber, animal rescuer, and wilderness explorer. It is no surprise that I became so interested in one of the most rewarding aspects of golf course maintenance – the privilege of spending the day outdoors.
My journey into golf course maintenance began almost twenty years ago in Wisconsin working alongside my grandfather, who was a part time greens mower. I quickly found myself enjoying the variety of tasks involved with golf course maintenance, and with a recommendation from my boss I was accepted into the Pennsylvania State University Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program.
After graduation, I started working as an assistant superintendent at a private club in the Chicago suburbs.
Six years later, I found myself looking for warmer weather in Southern California. A year after moving to California, I accepted my first position as superintendent and was able to gain experience in the construction of a new golf course. It was in California where I met my fiancé, Melissa. She is currently a third year medical student in San Diego.
